As today appears to be National Flash Fiction Day in the UK, I have decided to finally put together my own first couple of attempts. Here now is the science fiction one, and later in the day I will post up the horror one.

‘I saw you, you know, through the years’ he stated

‘When?’ The other asked

‘Oh, maybe three hundred years back’

‘Around the awakening of the Second Souls tribes. Did you have much trouble getting to here?’

‘Over a century of revolutions, a dynasty of cybory hatred. But I’m here. We’re here’

‘I means more than just that-right?’

The two men both closed their eyes. Each felt an emptying from themselves, a dizziness within. Blackness, then sudden light. New surroundings. After five centuries, unpredicted personal evolution, rebirthing, travelling through space, they both left the simulation created to keep them calm through their real journey of only three weeks.

They stood, stretching, but one of them fell, with tense aching pain.

‘Lucian, you alright?’ the other asked moving toward him

‘I…am yes’ but he stumbled down onto his knees then over

‘Let me call for help’ Nathaniel said

‘No, I am finished. They know, I asked for this’

‘You asked? Nathaniel said

”Many, many years ago in the simulation’ Lucian responded

He saw blood dripping from the side of Lucian’s mouth, his eyes heavy

‘I know my health. This reality. In there, I became everything, every one I could. You will…enjoy this future now. I enjoyed our future past’ Lucian explained, his eyes losing life, lids closing. The medics then arrived.

Alight, that is the first. Hope you all read more flash fiction today, whereever you are out there. See you all later.
