HORROR FICTION 2012: dark new things…

Lets take a quick look at what we are all waiting for or still reading in the horror genre at the start of this doomed new year( as the Mayans believed):

You might be reading on kindle or regular defiant paperbacks or hardbacks but the content is what we’re interested in…

SUSAN HILL-THE WOMAN IN BLACK

With film starring Daniel Radcliffe coming our way very soon, everyone is curious to read this modern classic tale

CLIVE BARKER-ABARAT 3

Personal favourite author of mine, this has surprisingly been a few years since part 2 of this twisted bizarre epic children’s fantasy series. Hopefully the highly anticipated SCARLET GOSPELS  horror novel of coming soon too

JACK KILBORN-AFRAID

In a classic similar dark modern style to greats STEPHEN KING or SEAN KOONTZ, this guy looks to be producing good chills

GUILLERMO DEL TORO-THE NIGHT ETERNAL(STRAIN 3)

The multi-talented unstoppable director, producer, artist gives us the third instalment of this suspense filled terror tale

JOE HILL-HORNS

I myself really have to read this real soon, it seems so good and I don’t want to be avoiding the movie to read it

ADAM NEVILL-APARTMENT 16

One of the biggest, most acclaimed recent dark chiller novels, it has recieved so much positive response. A Brit writer done us proud

DEAN KOONTZ-77 SHADOW STREET

Another new KOONTZ. Good or bad thing? He can be hit and miss, perhaps arguably his best work behind him but this could be a promising new book

JUSTIN CRONIN-THE PASSAGE

This one seems to devide opinion, some fantastic reviews, some quite negative. I am interested though

ALISON LITTLEWOOD-A COLD SEASON

A first novel and it looks like a very atmospheric big chiller, influenced by the likes of KING

MICHELLE PAVER-DARK MATTER

Top of the book charts now, and with good reason it seems. A high quality new ghost story most deem worth a read

KIM NEWMAN-ANNO DRACULA

Fresh novel from the unbelievably knowledgable horror genre critic and author, it another very unique tale

This is just a few of the biggest, most talked about horror fiction out now. There are so many ebooks, trilogies, instalments in genre series and more giving us such huge amounts of variety to chose from. The genre is certainly very healthy, despise the industry changes in publishing and digital fiction currently. So what do you all think? Which dark deadly tales are on your own chopping list right now?

Hi James…thank you for stopping by on my blog.

reading your about is amazing. I also write some short stories…but I just started writing last year….still an amateur and beginner. I would love to read your novel,if you let me 🙂

I didn’t know Guilernmo del toro wrote a book…now I am curious. What I look forward this year is King’s newest novel,11/22/63

    • Thanks for the response. I am not actually published yet, but it is doing the rounds in the post etc. to agents, publishers and the SF novel will too in a month or so. It is hard to get it done and write while working full time, but you find a way to get it done. Good luck with your own.
Yeah, Del Toro has this book trilogy now, co-written with another guy, and I think it is going to be a comic series and possibly adapted to TV or film in near future. He is a very prolific guy for sure. I would like to check out that new KING book too, he is still a total master of writing, all kinds.
